6. What insurance should I get for visa process?
A basic personal accident insurance plan. Such plans are approximately RM120.00 in Malaysia.

7. What is the validity period of my visa?
All visas are valid for 1 year only. Yearly renewal is required.

8. What happens if I renew my passport?
You can apply for a visa transfer from the old passport to a new one. You will be required to submit a letter from your school. You are also required to inform the school at least 6 months in advance before the expiry of your visa.

You must lodge a police report and proceed to the embassy to issue a new one. Then, obtain a school letter and report it to the Immigration Department.

You should plan to renew 4 months before your visa expires.

Visa can only be renewed 1 to 2 months before its expiry date.

3. How do I cancel my student visa?
You can cancel it with your flight ticket for the withdrawal. Or, using your new school MOE approval letter, for transfer of school.

4. How do I extend my visa if there isn't enough time for processing?
You can apply for a special pass with the Immigration Department. The pass is valid for up to 30 days.

5. Can the guardian pass be issued to my father instead of my mother?
Yes. With a valid reason like your mother is working in her home country, the visa can be issued to your father.
